Tex and I are so excited to announce that we have a new land yacht to call HOME!
It feels so surreal and we are still in a state of shock, but a good shock!
We bought a brand new, 2015 Newmar Ventana 4002. It is 41’ long, has one and half bathrooms, two couches that both make beds, a king bed, continuous hot water (hello long showers!), a residential fridge and so many other great features. We feel so blessed to be able to afford this amazing new home and I can’t thank Tex enough for working so hard for 30 years in the military to make my dreams come true!
But, I know what you are probably thinking……you have done so many modifications to your current RV, why are you getting a new one? Well remember, our current RV was purchased when we still owned our home and it was bought just for vacations a few times a year and for long weekend getaways. To make it compatible for full time living, we had to make several changes and upgrades along the way. No different than making upgrades to your regular sticks and bricks home.
However, it became clear to us since we have been living in it full time for 2 ½ years that no matter how many upgrades we did, there was no changing the fact that we still had a queen bed instead of a king bed (which we desperately need – too many back and neck surgeries!) and that the living area only had one couch and it is not enough room to have family or friends over. There just isn’t enough seating and that was something we couldn’t change in this floor plan.
The one upgrade that we did that we will greatly miss is our solar on the roof. We never truly got to try it out and we are really sad that we can’t take it with us, but I know the new owners will love it and hopefully enjoy it for years to come.
We bought our new Newmar at Fife RV Center in Fife, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. They are the only Newmar dealer for several hundred miles and we looked at several models on their lot. We also looked at several Entegras and Tiffins as well as a few other RV manufacturers over the past several months. But throughout all of our research and inspections and talking with people, we kept coming back to Newmar. We have been so impressed with our current model and the quality of workmanship and customer service that we just couldn’t buy anything else but another Newmar.
Pat, our salesman at Fife, was a superb salesman. He was very knowledgeable about motorhomes and was able to answer any question we had. He was not pushy at all and let us take our time looking at different models. We visited him twice and communicated by email several times and each time he was very responsive to our needs. When we were working to make the deal, he was very patient and worked with us to get a deal we were very happy with.
Rachel and Troop in financing were wonderful to work with as well. Rachel worked to get us an amazing interest rate and Troop worked his magic to get us a great deal on all the extras we wanted installed. All three of them gave us their personal cell numbers and communicated with us regularly. I think that speaks very highly of their integrity and willingness to help anyway they could.
Since we don’t have the RV yet, I will wait to comment on the service work. So far, Matt in Service has been extremely nice and helpful and we are confident that their work will be top notch. We expect nothing but the best.
We are so excited and can’t wait to get our new home. They are currently installing 8 new batteries, a washer/dryer, a new TV satellite and running through the inspection to make sure everything is working properly. We will probably take possession of it the week of December 5th, baring any unforeseen changes. They have to work with the weather and install the TV satellite when the rain and temps allow so that may or may not delay it a bit.
We have already started packing up non-essentials to make it easier on moving day. We plan to put these boxes in the RV park clubhouse the night before so there isn’t so much to transfer over in the dealer parking lot. But even though we plan to box up as much as we can, there is still so much stuff that will have to be done at possession. Let me just say, even though we thought we had downsized our stuff, and we have from when we lived in a 2,000 sq. ft. house, it still amazes me how much we can pack in all the nooks, crannies and cabinets in the RV!
Right now, we are living amongst boxes! Plus, there was a huge sale on Sleep Number beds last week so we already bought our King Size bed for the new RV. It is also sitting in our living room in two boxes right now so that isn’t helping the box issue at the moment!
It is going to be a very busy, exhausting month but the reward at the end is so exciting!
When we take possession and get all organized, I will blog again and post more photos. I will also be updating any mods that we do along the way, so be watching for those posts as well.
Also, I will be keeping all of the blog posts about the mods on our first RV on our blog. We firmly believe in all of the products, services and companies we have blogged about and want to continue to provide that information to you.
